AhlulBayt News Agency - The Syrian Arab Army’s Republican Guard unearthed a massive network of tunnels inside rural Damascus on Sunday after cleansing the entire southern pocket of the East Ghouta from the extremist rebels of Faylaq Al-Rahman and Jaysh Al-Fustat.

A total of 116 tunnels were discovered in the southern pocket of the East Ghouta, including Faylaq Al-Rahman’s primary tunnel that linked the village of Harasta Al-Quntara with the Badia area in rural Damascus.

This tunnel was reportedly used by Jaysh Al-Islam’s former leader, Zahran ‘Alloush, to leave the East Ghouta in order to travel to Jordan and Turkey.

Upon unearthing these tunnels, the Syrian Republican Guard also discovered 9 prisons that belonged to the Saudi-backed “Jaysh Al-Islam” militants.

These tunnels were used to imprison captured Syrian Arab Army soldiers; however, the cells were empty once the government forces discovered them on Sunday.
